The professional and the personal merge intricately to create a memorable story of crime and passion set in a Korea grappling with the migrants’ question. Actors Song Seo-rae and Hae Il-park are, well, simply superb, in another gem from one of today’s top-of-the line cinema directors, Park Chan-wook, who previously gave us “Oldboy” and “Snowpiercer.” All I can say is that this is one of those films that one wants to see again and again, perhaps owing to Song’s mesmerizing performance as a conflicted Chinese migrant worker. Park shows that you can have a minimum of blood and violence and still tell a spellbinding story.
